Prelim task evaluation

                                                                     Evaluation.

The 180 degree rule is only guideline for films. The axis marks the camera to keep it on the one side and to not confuse the audience. This is done for every shot in the scene. However when the camera passes it’s called passing the line.

The match on action shot is most commonly known as an editing technique where one shot will then cut to another shot.  This gives off the impression of a flow moving shot, and that it is continuous throughout. This continuous feel for the shot/film was incorporated within our film, and example of this can be seen below.

A shot reverse shot is mostly likely to oblige with the 180 degree rule and is used within a conversation. It is primarily used for dialogue. It incorporates the over the shoulder shot and is used commonly by film makers.

I incorporated these and edited them on the program of adobe premiere pro. For example when the characters in the film used the match on action shot with the key and locker. We also obliged by the 180 degree rule whilst doing the over the shoulder shot between Ashleigh and Owen. Filming around the school was very challenging, for example many storyboard scenes we were unable to use due to dead space which then results in the film not looking professional. Another challenge was time, we had to shoot every scene under strict time condition which fortunately didn't affect the quality of the film.

In terms of the process of film making our film we took our storyboard and then adapted it on camera. However we added some scenes around the school, but overall we have a brief idea

We added many music types, we ranged from heavy rock to a slow spy theme. We settled for the Arctic monkeys where the beat of the music matched with the overall theme and feel for the film. After adding music we added to the titles and the credits. We used a fade out to black when rolling on the credits to allow this continuous feel for the film to carry on. We decided not to add sound effects but instead we lowered the sound of the music when dialogue is exchanged, this was very challenging due to the lack of knowledge on the program which caused editing to be another challenge making the film.

  1. Hi Adam, an excellent blog post, you have discussed the techniques well and shown and understanding of them. I also felt that you understood what you did well and elements that didn't work so well. I would like you to add some detail about what you will do differently next time.
